Rage 2 game was designed by Avalanche Studios under Bethesda of course. Personally, I enjoyed the first Rage. My only issue was the game was simply too short, but it was very fun. And while there wasn’t much of a story in the first one, the gameplay was so fun, I didn’t care and don’t think fans of the game cared as well. Anyways, we got an extended look at the game during the conference. It seems we’re going to get more of a story in this game then the last one. And if you haven’t played Rage, think of Madmax with better tech and the most important aspect of it, weapons. But, guys, the trailer they showed for that game was fucking awesome. I will 100 percent be purchasing this game when it releases. Essentially, the protagonist, Walker, is on a long ass open-world mission to take down the authority. The trailer gave high fucking intensity. Just like the last game, we get an awesome vehicle chase in the trailer, and it is quickly followed by an intense whacky gunfight with the whackiest weapons of course. And in my opinion, what you can do with weapons and the ways in which you can kill enemies within this game is the best part, flaming rails guns, intense assault rifles, antigravity guns, and the boomerang of course is still in the game. Rage is the wasteland game we want. And with the first Rage game having so much success, I’m sure this one will be just as good, but on metabolic steroids. Walker takes on what looked like a morphed goliath at the end and did the infamous superhero ground pound, so the protagonist is showing more functionality. So I’m curious what you guys thought of the conference in general at least for Bethesda. Personally, Rage 2 was what I wanted to see the most.
They later went on to talk about Elder Scrolls Online, and I’m not going to bash it because it has a community. I just don’t have the time to dive into mmorpgs at the moment. They’re just too time consuming unless Star Wars the Old Republic released another, I’d make time. But we all know the Elder Scrolls world is immersive, and if you’re looking to dive into some deep fantasy lore, this would be the game for you. I haven’t played it since the first year, and I only played it for a couple of months, but in that time, the community was healthy, and since they’re still making content for it, obviously, there is still a community there for consumption.
The next game we got to look at was a fan favorite, Doom, but this one being Doom Eternal. This is one of those games that will never die and will always have a fan base. It is going to be the sequel to Doom. Hugo Martin, the creative director, teased twice as many demons in this game than the last. They hid more from us, but more will be revealed at Quakecon in August. Not much to talk about because that portion was short.
Quake was up next with Quake Champions. They announced that they were going to expand their Esports community, and they should. A lot of the best first person shooter PC players dominating in the Esports world are players who started with Doom and games like Quake. By the way, for this week only, Quake Champions is free to play at Quake.com tonight from June 10 – June 17. If you’re looking to improve your skill with first person shooters and make Fortnite seem like a cakewalk, I would implore you all to spend some time in that community.
Arcane Studios had a little video where they talked about their game Prey. They introduced some new DLC and some new features to their game that actually released tonight. Bethesda turned up, right? Mind you, I never played it, but I do intend to check it out after I quit stalling to complete God of War. But the new DLC was called Prey Mooncrash, and it is available now.
Next, we had Machine Games up. They talked about Wolfenstein II of course, you know, the game where Americans “beat the living fuck out of Nazis” as the creative director said. But Wolfenstein is being ported to the Nintendo Switch. As well, we’re also getting Wolfenstein Youngblood that comes with a multiplayer experience. And please check out the trailer for it, it looks amazing. I will definitely be grabbing a friend to go crazy!
They had a little VR talk right after and I believe Prey and Wolfenstein will have a part in Bethesda’s path in VR.
Fallout 76 was up next. Although I wasn’t too much of a fan of Fallout 4 as the game didn’t suck me in like New Vegas and Fallout 3, the anticipation and chasing the high that those prior Fallouts gave me still leaves something on the table for me to come back for. Fallout 76 is supposed to be the prequel to all of the Fallout games. You’re the first to come out into the wasteland. Also, did I mention that it is 4 times the size of Fallout 4? But you come of out the hills of West Virginia. I will definitely be picking this up. The open world looks a lot more lush and full of trees in the trailer. Of course you get those West Virginia hills if you’ve ever been there. I know I just said that I wasn’t too impressed with Fallout 4, but Fallout 76 is like getting that Star Wars Movie that we may never get, you know, a storyline that follows Yoda or Qui Gon or a sith.
So not only did we get the trailer music, but we get what seems to be a little of what we’re going to experience when we play the game for the first time. The protagonist walks out into the hills in what seems to be altered by Fall, the season. West Virginia is great because there is more information we can get about the government in this area as some nuclear things are actually housed in that area. They also teased different mutants. Another interesting aspect is the most important aspect, Fallout 76 will be online. I’m not lying either. They said we’ll be limited to dozens of players within our world and our progress follows us wherever we go. Very interesting. A must have. Seriously. Release it now. We still get that classic Fallout look. I’m just curious how the VATS system is going to play out. Societies can be laid wherever you so choose to lay now. It is still susceptible to enemy invasion and so forth. Also, one of the enemies shown in this game was a gargantuan bat. What the hell?! You didn’t get it from me if the authorities ask, but you also have control of nuclear missiles. There’s a Beta too, and the game releases in full this November 2018.
Next up, we were introduced to Elder Scrolls Blade, a mobile game. It was teased that it had console-like graphics. And, yes, it actually looked great. I’ll be checking it out on my Iphone X for sure. This will be great for those gaming phones that come with a fan for cooling. But you’re a part of a group called the Blades and you rebuild a town. Your character is completely customizable. It will be on every playable platform including VR. Additionally, your account will be linked. It is going to be available this Fall and will also have a beta.
They went on to announce their next big franchise in 25 years. Their conference was an hour, so what did we expect? Its called Starfield. Didn’t get much about it to be honest except there was a space visual that lasted less than 15 seconds. I look forward to more information about it, but I have no clue what to expect.
But we got what we’ve been asking for last, A visual of the next Elder Scrolls VI. We seen a massive overview of what may be the world, nothing in particular, but that was it as well. Oh, boy.
To register for the beta for Fallout 76 and Elder Scrolls Blade, head over to Bethesda.net. Currently, the site is not working for me, but we know why.
